Snow Day!!

In case you haven't checked the London weather lately, here is the latest: snow & lots of it! Well, for London at least. It started falling yesterday afternoon and has not stopped yet. The Greater London area got around 8 inches overnight and we are expecting another 4 today. It is the biggest snowfall in 20 years, so everything is shutdown or delayed . . . pretty funny for us since this would just be a minor slowdown at home. Check out the chaos it is causing here.

Last night we went to our friends' place for a Super Bowl party. It was really fun and a great excuse to be out in the snow! We haven't seen it in awhile and it was a beautiful night, so we all enjoyed the walk to & from their flat. Here is a picture of Elisa's first peek at the white stuff:

Speaking of HRH (her royal highness), I have been working on getting her blog up & running. But when you only have 30 seconds a day to work on it, it takes awhile. Maybe today/tonight will be the day!! In the mean time, here are a couple current pictures.

This is Elisa celebrating having the winning square at the end of the 2nd quarter last night with a good old fashioned thumb-sucking! She found her hands last week and can now be spotted sucking on them from time to time.

 

Elisa has been smiling for about a week or 2 . . . sometimes it is hard to tell if they are "real" or not and of course the little stinker won't do it for the camera. But today she couldn't contain her excitement about Daddy's snow day and she let a little one slip in front of the camera.

 

We are still here, and we are OK

It has been over 2 weeks since my last post, so you might be wondering how we are doing . . . I am not going to lie, things are not great, but they are OK. I was sick last weekend and Pat went back to work this week. Thankfully, I was on the upswing by the time he left on Monday. And little Elisa has been quite the stinker for the past 2 weeks. She has been really fussy and never wants to be put down. I know all these things are "normal" so I am not worried about her, but as all of you you have had kids know, that does not make it any less frustrating or exhausting. Needless to say, we are all very excited for GrandMar(my mom) to arrive tomorrow!

What is great is our friends here! We have had a home cooked meal delivered every night this week. Yum. Words can not describe how awesome this has been! And my new & expectant mums group had its monthly meeting this week, so it was great to meet with friends who have recently been through this and to hear what helped them. And to see their smiling & happy 4, 6, 9 month olds and see in person that things do get better. We are trying a few of their tricks, so we will see. Fingers crossed! If all else fails, at least we have a designated baby holder for the next week. And a couple more in a few weeks when Grandma & Grandpa McC arrive!

The good news is that we met Elisa's pediatrician yesterday and he said that she looks great (although I am not sure how much he likes her since she screamed for a majority of our visit and wee-ed all over). She has grown 1.7 inches, gained over 2 pounds and passed all his tests. As far as he is concerned, everything is fine.

Elisa is not very photogenic lately, but here are a couple recent shots. Actually, they are all from last week bc the camera has not even left the case this week.

This is me giving Elisa a pep talk before we head out for some shopping. Pat was trying to convince me that she couldn't handle it, but I knew I could talk my daughter into behaving for a shopping trip. She did ok. And so did I!
